I'm taking German class right now, I'm in my second year of highschool and second year of German class. I was just wondering if there was anybody in this forum that may know some current German slang or sayings that would impress the teacher. Please be sure to include a translation...

The other day we had a snow day, and there is a chance of having a delay tomorrow caused by a combination of snowy roads and fog. I live in Indiana and I realized, not everybody has the same crazy weather we do here. What reasons may school be closed or delayed in your area?

Here we get closings for mostly one reason: The roads are not suitable for transport due to snow or ice. We sometimes get delays because of fog. There is also the possibility that we will go home early due to snow coming or have to go to a place of shelter in the school and stay late because of a storm with a possible tornado.

I have a couple of things I've taken and given my own spin on. Some words that I've given completely new definitions to or changed a little bit.

Shaguanese: The official language spoken by the Shague (me). This is mostly English but has some unique words and also draws from heavily from German and some from Japanese.

awesomesauce:adj- something that is so awesome, it just had to have another syllable. (taken from homestarrunner.com but the meaning has been drastically changed)

feucht literally German for "humid", but in Shaguanese (in proper context) it is a word said when angry. Ex. "Ah feucht! I forgot to finish meine Hausaufgaben!"

But I've ran this hard drive in this computer before

f

Is it just me or do hard drives seem to hate me? This is my second post about a problem I've had, the last one got answered and fixed. Anyway moving on.

I recently installed Mandriva 10.2 Linux the other day on an old computer. The next day I free up a much larger hard drive that I decide I would rather use in this computer. I try to install the new hard drive, but when the BIOS is loading and checking for a Primary Master IDE HDD, it seems to freeze. Even when I do a scan in the CMOS it freezes when it scans for the primary hard drive. I would like to know if there is something I'm doing wrong or if there is anything I may have forgotten to do. Read further for part specs and what I have tried so far. Check back for new information if you think you may be able to help please.

CPU: Dual Pentium 2 (@300mhz) Klamath(?) (I know mandriva is for pentium 3 and up but perhaps the extra CPU makes up for that...?)
Motherboard: AWARD P2L97-05 Rev 1.03
1st hard drive: Western Digital Caviar 38400 (8455.2MB) (old)
New hard drive: Western Digital Caviar 450AA (45.0GB) (Newer)
RAM:256MB DIMM

The individual hardware works:
I know that the new hard drive works in another computer I have because I've tried it and mapped it, then deleted all partitions.
I know that the IDE cable and power cord I'm using work because that is where the old hard drive was plugged in.
I know that the new hard drive used to work in the old computer because (long story) I installed linux (an older version of RedHat) on it before, then decided it would go to better use in a newer computer. Then when I got a better hard drive, I took it back to the old computer that I just installed Mandriva on.
I have tried everything I can think of to get this to work for me. Please if there are any questions for me that would help get this solved, ask. I really want the extra space. With the linux partitions (I'm a linux beginner. Please don't tell me to make a custom linux partition) I get only about 800MB I can use of the origonal 8GB. I hope I haven't been too confusing...

**edit**
I've tried installing it with the jumper in all positions even though I know it should work in Master mode. I also have made sure that the cables are all the way in. I've tried reinserting with diffrent settings (even reset my BIOS) on my motherboard and on the hard drive.

It really depends. Some days I think about it a lot and other I don't seem to at all. I think it really depends on who I'm with and what happens during that day. If I'm around a lot of girls, I suppose there is a greater chance of me thinking perverted things than if I'm with a group of guys. The only thing is when I'm with guys, the chances of talking about perverted things skyrockets. So yeah, it depends on who I'm with...

I got another story. Christmas 03 I had a bunch of gift money, so I bought a $150 sony clie (the sony brand Palm Pilot). Three days later, at a New Year event at my church, I was playing capture the flag. I landed on my clie after diving. Smashed the touch screen. I don't think I'm meant to own electronics...

I think that being an outcast is all up to you. If you feel like an outcast, maybe you need to post more. It may take a lot of work to become well known, but if you think it is worth it, go for it. Personally, I like to be able to come here every once in a while and post if I feel like it. I think if I were popular there would be a lot more pressure to post.

My school is called Pendleton Heights High School or, more commonly, phhs. Pretty boring and I don't know where the "Heights" comes from. Probably because they didn't want the middle school initials to be PMS (Pendleton Middle School).

I think cute is the best. Beautiful and sexy girls seems like they would be the hardest to keep, besides there are so many cute girls where I live :)

Try reading a webcomic or something like that. That is what I do when I get bored. I've been reading 8-bit Theatre for the past 3 months in my free time. If you get bored a lot that is a good one to read. I also try out anime but that takes a while to get....

f

I'm new to buying anime, but I think I've spent about 170 dollars on it not including internet connection. I only have one dvd set and a few manga. I need a job ^_^'

Dag, I got a call from GameStop just earlier that they delayed it. I've had this thing pre-ordered since StarFox Assault came out. That really bugs me, but I hope they at least have some good bonus stuff for those who pre-ordered, like when they released the bonus Ocarina of time Master Quest disk with the Wind Waker. Does this mean it will be on the Revolution? I don't want to have to buy another console to play the Twilight Princess. O well, I guess this is to be expected from them. I don't remember the last time a good game wasn't delayed.

f

I'm thinking I've probably had 700+ re-writes, plus plenty of scratching and reparing. I'm thinking they've been well worth the money (free) and I'll just go buy some new ones. The bad thing is that the computer I'm transfering files to has problems installing drivers. I don't have to OS disk so when I try to install a driver for a network adaptor or usb drive, it simply won't. Otherwise that would be much more time and cost efficient. I may get a Win98 disk one of these days...

I don't always have a purpose for the things I do. I suppose ultimately what I do makes me happy for a brief period of time, but some things I do have absolutely no purpose...

f

I don't cry when an anime ends. I do get irritated when they don't tie up the loose ends. There are too many times I'll be watching a show and wonder about something that never gets explained by the end. I guess there is the possibility that I may cry in the future, but I'd have to be quite addicted to that show.

f

I am the master procrastinator. I once did a whole months work of research in 2 nights and wrote a paper getting a B+. I have 3 days to read 3 books and write journal entries on them. I have the booknotes for one book waiting on me to read them. What am I donig instead? Watching anime... I like to distract myself from what is really important. I think if I ever do get around to doing it, I'll get it all done in one shot. I hope I do it soon...

f

I just got into anime about a year or so ago so I have been watching it all on TV. I think FLCL is the first one I saw. That show is what hooked me on anime. If not FLCL it was Cowboy Bebop I saw all of. I can't really remember...

f

I watched FLCL on the dvds and when you watch the commentary, it makes a lot more sence. As for the weirdest thing... I'd have to say Excel Saga. It is also my favorite anime. Paranoia Agent is pretty weird, but at least it has meaning. Excel Saga is just random, especially the final episode that was never meant to be aired... XP

f

I don't like orange. It is way too plain. My fav colors are the brightest and most annoying I can find.

f

I had one for about 8 years right next to my eye from when I was learning to walk. It eventually seems to have gone away... I also have one on my hand where I burned myself with a frying pan.

f

I don't usually use smilies.. I think I'll start today!

My favorite that I see here is: XP

f

I've only seen about 6 or 7 anime movies, and my favorite of them is Cowboy Bebop the movie. I half watched Akira once, (I was doing something else when it was playing at a friend's house) and I think what I remember of it was really good.

I've been using CD-RWs to move files from one computer to another for years and now my CDs are starting to not work anymore. They seem to burn just fine, but my computer isn't able to read some of the data. I was wondering if there is a certain number of times a CD can be rewritten.
